Non-Destructive Image Adjustments 5/10/23
Vibrance:
I enjoyed using this adjustment layer and I overall can see myself utilizing this in clearing up images and showing brightness.
Threshold:
This adjustment reminded me of older forms of comics and how it’s only black and white. I also really loved the look of this adjustment.
Solid Color:
I liked the purple hue it gave utilizing the color purple and other settings, which softened the blacks in the photo and using masks for the redness in the books.
Posterize:
I don’t really like the look of this adjustment layer. It makes the photo seem pixelated however, I believe it would be beneficial to use it in vintage pictures.
Photo Filter:
This was a really simple format to enhance pictures. This reminded me of just simple filters to correct the colors and make it aesthetically pleasing.
Levels:
I found this adjustment layer quite confusing at first, the same with Curves. This was really precise though, like the effect you want, you can accurately demonstrate it with this adjustment.
Invert:
This adjustment reminded me of how much I like the contrast look in photos. It’s a unique enhancement but I believe it’s a more creative option rather than used commonly.
Hue:
This color reminded me of the intro of a production studio that was in a movie. I don’t remember the name of the studio but I do remember seeing this hue on it. I like the hue adjustment as it helps to minimize or maximize certain colors.
Gradient Map:
I liked this X-Ray feel to this photo. X-Rays are usually connected with Science and Medical fields so it makes this photo seem mysterious or correlated to a certain theme.
Gradient:
This adjustment layer is really useful if a backdrop or shadows are needed in a photo. I can see myself using this enhancement to be able to edit photos outside of class.
Exposure:
This adjustment was just perfect for the theme of the photo. I believe it developed a sense of sadness and despair for the topic presented of the pictures that I took of those documents.
Curves:
This was honestly the most challenging adjustment to learn and be able to make the colors work. I had a difficult time trying to make it work and making neat edits for the image.
Color Balance:
This was by far my favorite adjustment layer edit to do. I like the simplicity of the color and how it works well with the colors in the image.
Channel Mixer:
I ended up fading the colors of this image to be able to make an edit. The colors of the image were completely pleasing and the only way to show a difference was fading the colors of the image.
Brightness:
This helped bring out the yellow tones in the image. This ended up bringing together the lighting in the image and I like the way the yellow/orange tones are enhanced.
Black & White:
This was the classic monotone adjustment but I didn’t know it was possible to alter this to even out the black shadows and white tones. I really enjoyed this adjustment layer selection and overall all the forms of color adjustments and looks each option gives .
