Society of Illustrators Visit 3/28

Image
What is the purpose of the Society of Illustrators? The purpose of the Society of Illustrators is to promote the art and appreciation of illustration, its history and evolving nature through exhibitions, lectures and education.  Reflection:  My favorite part of the exhibition was seeing familiar artworks and experiencing seeing different pieces in diverse perspectives. The lower level was just the beginning of the entire exhibit and it was such a nice experience to see various art styles all around me, and how each of them are art and yet there's really no set definition of "true art", it's only merely a form of expression and the standard tools to illustrate just give the standards which then eventually allows the artist to put on paper how well.  This was one of the artworks that stood out to me. The concept is shown as a couple in love and yet only the top part of the woman is drawn but the mind completes the rest of how the illustration is supposed to look like. T...

Photoshop Blend Modes 3/27

Image
Reflection:  I have been familiar with Digital Editing Programs such as PaintTool SAI, which is the most similar to the Photoshop layout and editing tools. They even seem to have similar shortcuts for both and it felt quite natural to use blend modes. Although I did learn some new riffs such as the Ctrl + J, to duplicate the layer quickly. I would always manually duplicate it and I didn't mind doing so but using the shortcut makes the process so much faster. I also learned selecting multiple objects or images to move them all together by using Ctrl + Drag which helped a lot to make sure I was able to keep everything together on the canvas. But the ultimate riff would be the Ctrl + Click on the layer that you want to utilize to select every pixel on the layer which makes checking any errors so much easier and such a breeze. I would definitely use these more often to make sure all my layers are precise, especially in a drawing setting, where it can be easy to lose track of what...

Reflection of Final Brand Ad 3/21

Image
Reflection :  The overall process from starting sketching on paper and going onto getting a digital draft, it was a long process of going back and forth with deciding on all aspects. I had gone through multiple designs, thinking it would be simple to apply my overall presence through my logo and then placing it onto an advertisement. I decided onto a simple, modern feel and I wanted to incorporate blue with the overall logo and advertisement. I really feel satisfied with the work I produced on a short crunch, and it feels that I did my best efforts in all the time given. I do believe that I can still work on it and improve the overall design to be able to perfectly craft my advertisement. I do feel that my images could be better and the resolution issue could be solved if there was access to better stock images. I also felt that my peer's critiques were very useful in realizing that my work can be bad and that what I feel looks really neat, may not be as neat to the public. The fon...

Logo Dev: Final 3/13

Image
Logo Dev: 1st Step: Pencil Roughs:   In this step of the four step process of designing a logo for my brand was where I believe is that I established the format I wanted to present myself to the public. My brand is IntroSpecs, where the main product is providing affordable non-fogging glasses in where we produce the frames, lenses, and a variety of styles for the consumer. I wanted to give that friendly, recognizable feel when viewing the logo. I also wanted a simple design in which could be possibly printed on the side of glasses, the glasses case and overall be printed in advertisements that can be easily formatted depending on the printing size. With all of that in mind, I came up with 25 pencil roughs that are based on the idea of the glasses while trying to maintain a unique, 21st century modern feel that a vast majority of popular brand use. I want to make the brand look exclusive and be affordable for all therefore, most of these sketches either fit one or the other. Th...
