Three Masking Techniques - 5/3/23
Three Masking Techniques
I wanted to use images from my device of the small objects but I wanted to experiment with actually using more stock images. I've been wanting to incorporate rats in my projects. I also used an image of a chewed up gum piece to be able to show that masking technique. I really loved the whole "stuck in a sticky situation" saying and I thought using a rat and gum to demonstrate that was really clever.
2 ) Bowling Pins :
Before learning masking, I would've just made a Quick Selection and tried to duplicate the image various times. That would reduce the quality a bit and make the work look quite uneven in terms of quality. This made my Vitamin Water look like I bought a whole case instead of just one. I feel I can improve and make my items look like it belongs in the picture. I can finally speed up my editing processes and be able to do much more and improve my photoshop skills.
Bottle in a Mouse:
So I thought of both concepts of a Rat and a Bottle, and came up with a Bottle in a Mouse. I can observe that it doesn't look realistic and it looks quite undone. But for mere practice, I really wanted to combine both concepts and place one on top of the other. The whole process was quite simple to grasp now. I used to use masks in my art projects that I would do in my free time to add texture in clothing, houses and hair. Since I haven't done much art pieces in the recent years, it felt refreshing to learn these skills again. I hope to use this technique in the future and take my editing skills to the next level in our next assignments.
